We want to upgrade to version 3.1 of the firmware on the bridges. From
what the MCS personnel told me, the ROM version was quite old and not
the same as the current ROM on the newer shipped bridges. No type of
load would work.

| As far as I know, the ROMs are not customer-upgradeable (I don't think you can
order a ROM upgrade either). You either need to replace the bridges or have FS
replace the ROMs. I don't know the exact policy. There might also be some
other hardware issues with just replacing the ROMs without upgrading the board
(etch).
What version of ROM does your customer have?

| STOP !!!
There is ONLY one reason to WANT newer ROMS, and only one way to GET them.
The WANT reason is that older bridges with V1.* firmware do not support flood
mode.
The only way to GET new ROMs is to REPLACE THE ENTIRE BRIDGE. The ROM is
matched to the bridge HARDWARE revision. ONLY V1.* will work with the old
hardware. Only V2.* will work ONLY with the new. They are NOT interchangable.
Conversely, the FLASH image is not at all concerned about what hardware platform
it is running on. The latest, V3.9, is currently in the SSB release stream and
works on all revisions of both DEWGB and DEWGF.
