1835.0. "LAT VS TELNET a comparison?" by UTROP1::CAMPENHOUT_R (Rob (J.R.) van Campenhout) Tue Jan 03 1995 16:05
Hi,
One of my customers wants to use a Multi-Data-Center (MDF) cluster in
order to make his application fault-tolerant. His users login remotely
via modems connected to DECserver900TMs.
Using the Access Server software I can let the user connect up to the
cluster via either the LAT or the TELNET protocols. before I start an
extensive RTFM session, can anyone point me to a list of functional
differences between what the LAT end TELNET protocols offer when using
the DECserver900TM + Access Server software.
There is no standards issue "requiring" the use of TELNET.
Functionality is the key issue. Of course if they are functionally
equivelent it would be nice to also be standards compliant.
Anybody done this comparative study before??
Regards,
Rob

You might want to try the terminal servers notes file for this sort of
info. If you want to use Telnet you will have to by IP services for
the nodes in the cluster so it would be more expensive initially.
