1833.0. "trap 4 translation support planned?" by MUNICH::SCHALLER (Eva Schaller *DSC* 895-6146) Tue Jan 03 1995 02:53

    First of all, my knowledge is absolutely poor concerning
    Hubwatch and MIBs. I had however to take over a call from
    an ill colleague.

    Anyway, the customer claims, that specific trap 4s are not interpreted,
    while e.g. 0 traps get translated into text.
    He has Version 3.1 of Hubwatch and wants to know, if any further
    version will contain support for his request (of course he also wants
    an approximate timeframe in this case).

    I assume, that you do not plan to interprete vendor specific traps,
    but I would be pleased if somebody could confirm of deny this.

    thanks very much in advance

    Jean-Yves,

    the traps are sent from a DECagent 90 V 2.1.3.
    In the same HUB 90 there is also a DECbridge 90 3.1.

1833.4any news after 6 months ?MUNICH::SCHALLEREva Schaller *DSC* 895-6146Wed Jan 04 1995 03:4014

    I've read several notes (including 1037) before I wrote my note.
    I know, that the behaviour as seen by the customer is expected and
    not a bug, but a feature.

    This is, why I asked for future versions, which would support this
    functionality. Shawn Gallagher said in Note 1037, that they consider
    this support to be implemented in a future release.

    But I found nothing concrete about versions or even timeframes.
    Any news since 1037?

    Thanks again for an answer

  it's a pity, i think like other waiting wishes it's a cost/budget
  problem.

    This is actually a good example of _why_ we don't put versions or
    timeframes in this conference - if a planned feature gets dropped or
    deferred we don't have to deal with someone having sold it based on
    outdated information in the notesfile.

    By funneling commitments through the product managers, we have a chance
    to understand what we've been commited to.
