Configuration: DEC Notebook 425SLC Premium DEPEA Pocket Adapter By using the following command decndup /s 16.185.224.152 (witch is a DEChub 900) I got the following error message (c) Digital Equipment Corporation. 1993. All Rights Reserved. [SYSDESCR] Getting Device INFO (sysDescr) [ CDI_ALLOC Error - DLL Call Failed - 000b ] [ Portal_ID was 1 ] [ CDI_UNBIND Error - DLL_CLOSE failed - 000b ] [ CDI_UNBIND Error - DLL_CLOSE failed - 000b ] DECnduPlus: Network failure to send packet. I tried the same NOTEBOOK with an XIRCOM Pocket Adapter PE3 ==> same problem I tried a Toshiba Notebook ==> works with DEPEA and XIRCOM My configuration files looks as follows: CONFIG.SYS ========== SHELL=C:\DOS\COMMAND.COM C:\DOS\ /E:1024 /p DEVICE=PROTMAN.SYS /I:A:\ DEVICE=DEPEA.DOS AUTOEXEC.BAT =========== C:\DOS\DOSKEY /OVERSTRIKE PATH C:\DOS;C:\ndu DLLNDIS NETBIND PROTOCOL.INI ============ ; PROTOCOL.INI ; for DECndu [protocol manager] DRIVERNAME = PROTMAN$ [DATALINK] DRIVERNAME = DLL$MAC LG_BUFFERS = 16 SM_BUFFERS = 6 OUTSTANDING = 32 HEURISTICS = 0 MOP = 0 ;** Specify IRQ level used by workstations network adapter. ;** Default is 5. ;NI_IRQ = 5 ;** Replace DEPCA.DOS with the name of the driver you wish to use ;** with the ethernet adapter installed in your system. ;BINDINGS = DEPCA.DOS BINDINGS = DEPEA.DOS ; ** You can leave these two lines alone. Use it as an example for the ; ** section which follows. [DEPCA.DOS] DRIVERNAME = DEPCA$ ; ** Here is where you have to fill in the information for your driver. ; ** Insert the appropriate names and fill in any other neccessary parameters. ; ** See your adapter documentation for additional information. You should ; ** replace YOURDRIVER.HERE with the filename of your NDIS driver. ; ** Replace YOURDRIVER$ with the filename$, as in the example above. [YOURDRIVER.HERE] DRIVERNAME = YOURDRIVER$ ;** Ignore this section if you do not have the DIGITAL ewrk3 ethernet adapter. ;** Change "BINDINGS = " statement above if your system has the new EtherWorks 3 ;** Ethernet adapter. [EWRK3.DOS] DRIVERNAME = EWRK3$ IOADDRESS = 0X300 RAMADDRESS = 0XD000 MEMORYMODE = 2 INTERRUPT = 5 [DEPEA.DOS] DRIVERNAME = DEPEA$ IOADDRESS = 0X378 INTERRUPT = 7 PMODE = 3 DIAGNOSTIC = 1 Hope for any hint Regards Juergen

1815.3 | set NI_IRQ=7 in [DATALINK] section | NETCAD::WAGNERCOFFIL | Mon Feb 20 1995 13:43 | 16 | |
re: .0 The IRQ is not specified in the [DATALINK] section of the PROTOCOL.INI. In the DEPEA.DOS section it says that the interrupt is 7. Try adding NI_IRQ=7 to the [DATALINK] section. Also, to avoid confusion... if you are not using the other adapters then delete their references from the PROTOCOL.INI. In this example, delete the [DEPCA.DOS], [YOURDRIVER.HERE], and [EWRK3.DOS] sections. If these do not help, check if there are any special [DATALINK] and [DEPEA.DOS] requirements for this driver.
