.0 re-worded for clarity -
If a BN24B MIC/MIC crossover cable is plugged into both ports
1A and 1B on a DB900MX and the FDDI ports are configured for front
panel, will the green lights stop blinking.
Thanks
Bill

1728.2 | Yes the leds will stop blinking | NETCAD::BATTERSBY | | Tue Nov 29 1994 15:27 | 3 |
| Yes the leds will cease blinking meaning the FDDI link is good.

On an A or B port, the left hand LED will be on solid when connected
and off when waiting for a connection (flashing means either disabled
by managment or broken). The right hand LED will always flash to
indicate that it is a dual ring (A or B) port (as opposed to a tree
connection - M or S).

1728.5 | Only one PHY LED for FDDI ports 1A and 1B | KEIKI::WHITE | MIN(2,FWIW) | Wed Nov 30 1994 15:03 | 16 |

On the DECbridge 900MX there is only one PHY LED under each of
the MIC connectors for both ports 1A snd 1B.
It flashes green whether there is any FDDI cable in or not, we do
have the Management set for front panel usage and have tried to enable
the ports via hubwatch but the forwarding goes from a red broken switch
to green and back to red after 10 seconds, the Green PHY LED light
never chnages state, always blinking green on both 1A and 1B.
We have a new DB900MX coming in today or tommorrow, FED EX takes
two days to deliver here in Hawaii.
Thanks,
Bill

Oops - I was thinking of a concentrator.
On my bridges it does come on solid.

New DS900EF arrived, FDDI PHY LEDS worked as noted.
Now on the LAN INTERCONNECT SCREEN we have NO GUI picture
for the DS900EF, any ICON files floating around on the NEtwork?
Thanks,
Bill

| You need at least version 3.1 of HUBwatch for the DECswitch 900EF.

Double checked with the ISV and he said they have HUBWATCH for
WINDOWS version 3.1.0, still no GUI picture in the Slot where we
had the DB900MX and now have the DS900EF.

What does the DEChub display say is in that slot? What is the MAM version?

The DEChub 900 displays a DECswitch 900 EF in slot 4 in its LCD.
We powered off the hub to do a local reset and still the LAN
Interconnect VIEW shows a bland square for slot 4.
On the physical presentation screen slot 4 does show the
correct presentation for the DECswitch 900 and the upper left portion
of the display after clicking on the decsitch does show an icon
for the DECswitch, its just the LAN Interconnect VIEW that is missing.
I don't remember the actual numbers for the MAM revision,
but I believe it is current.

1728.12 | Are you able to re-direct console to the DS900EF?. | NETCAD::BATTERSBY | | Mon Dec 12 1994 09:06 | 6 |
| If you have a terminal connected to the HUB console port, are
you able to re-direct to the DECswitch 900EF? If so, please
tell us what hardware rev and Firmware rev are displayed for
the 900EF.

Didn't redirect but the DECswitch 900EF shows
HW=V1/2,RO=V0.4,SW=V1.4.0
The DEChub900 MAM shows HW=F, SW=V3.1.0 in the LCD.
If you click on the DECswitch in the Physical VIEW of Hubwatch
the picture in the upper left is

900 EE
If you select the LAN Interconnect VIEW the square for slot 4
is blank, I would have thought it should look the same as when
Clicking on the DECswitch in the Physical view, also when selecting
the FDDI Icon in the Physical VIEW for the Whole DECswitch it shows
a picture of a ring with 900MX below it.

| Unfortunetly, you're describing a recently-discovered bug in HUBwatch
for Windows, V3.1 (recently being a week or two ago). The icon for
the DECswitch 900EF is messed-up.
Incidentally, you draw a very nice icon...

| This from what I have come to understand from the local HUB
developers is purely a cosmetic issue. That is, the icon is
messed up, but everything is functional otherwise.
