1696.0. "multiple IP addresses?" by WARABI::CHIUANDREW () Tue Nov 15 1994 19:58

    Hi,

    Customer has 6 DEChub900s (hubmanger V3.0) and DC900MX, DB900MX and
    DR900FP, the IBM is DB900MX in slot 8,
    (these modules' image loaded from DCF V1.0), below are the questions:

    1) Do we need one IP address for each module (DC900MX, DB900MX,
    DR900FP) for upgrading to V3.1 (DCF V1.1)?
    2) It seems to me that we need ONLY one IP address if we use repeater
    module (e.g. DR900TM) as the IBM, is it correct?

    3) Can we upgrade the DC900MX, DB900MX, DR900FP using the IP address
    assigned to HUBmanager where HUBmanager uses DB900MX in slot 8 as the
    In-band-manager and these modules (DC900MX, DB900MX, DR900FP) do not
    have IP address?

    thanks
    Andrew Chiu - NIS Sydney

Andrew,

Check out the file HOW2LOAD.TXT in the DCF V1.1 kit. It has a section which
describes how to use a single IP address to upgrade all your devices. You can
also copy the file from:

	NETCAD::PROJ$722:[ONEHUB.RELEASE.FIRMWARE.V1_1.VMS]HOW2LOAD.TXT.

Note that you cannot use the Hub Manager's IP address to upgrade the DR900FP.
The repeaters do not yet support MAM-assisted upgrades.
