1695.0. "DEChub90 positioning" by MXOC00::GCORTES () Tue Nov 15 1994 17:54
Hi!
I have been working on product positioning on the DEChub
90 Starter Pack with the 24 ports as offered and
with/with out management. I have consulted several
sources:
[1] SynOptics Product Overview (Fall/Winter 1994),
[2] Networks Sales Kit,
[3] Q1/FY95 Network Sales Training-in-a-box and
[4] Network Guide to Competitive Selling
And my conclusions so far are:
Digital DEChub90 Starter Pack
SynOptics Lattice System 2800
2800A no management and
2813-05 with SNMP management.
3 Comm Hublink Builder
ECS for Chassis and
FMS Stackable
Cabletron HubSTACK and MMAC-8
HP HP Advance Stack
Ungermann Bass Access/stax
Chipcom 5006C (?)
Since I am no expert on the subject, the question is
does any body agree or disagree?
These are my own remarks:
Synoptics: Could compare in the low level with the
Lattice System 800, but it has no
expandability. On the other hand, I
refuse to position our DEChub 90 against
the 3000 (as in [3] and [4] above, since
the latter compares with our DEChub 900)
Cabletron: To my understanding, the hubSTACK is
both, cheaper and newer than the MMAC-8.
HP: Advance Stack is newer than EtherTwist
Chipcom: I have no idea if this is at all true or
updated.
Please let me know your inputs, so that I can produce an
accurate table.
By the way, is there anybody in the marketing side of
the NPB doing this, it may be that I should not be doing
it at all, but I did not find any thing of the like in
the net.
Thanks in advance.
