| 1692.1 | Only a V1.0 manual exists | NAC::FORREST |  | Tue Nov 15 1994 09:20 | 11 |
| | Jose, the V1.0 manual is the latest that exists. I am trying to get
    approval to update the manual for V3.1 as soon as possible.

    I suggest that you spend half a day playing with it; by then you
    will know 90% of what will be in the manual anyway.

    When we have a manual available, a pointer will be posted at
    NAC::NIPG:[MANAGE.RMON.WINDOWS], and a note to that effect posted
    here.

| 1692.2 | Little Report doc or help, please | GOYA::JOSEF | Jose Fernandez. ACT Spain | Tue Nov 15 1994 09:45 | 13 |
|  |     Jack,

    I have no problem with 90% of the functionalities. However, there
    are 10% that don't work or I do something wrong.

    For example, I can't get a REPORT. There are others which my customer will
    ask for too, but...

    Do you have some little notes speaking about the reports stuff??

    Thanks

    Jose

| 1692.3 | MAC address-name mapping? | GOYA::JOSEF | Jose Fernandez. ACT Spain | Tue Nov 15 1994 11:57 | 9 |
| | Another problem I have is the mapping from MAC addresses to IP or name.
    In V1.0, there was a "DISCOVERY" option which made this (as said in the
    V1.0 manual). In V3.1 there is not such option.

    How can I get this mapping?

    Please help!!!

| 1692.4 | I agree, we need the manual now... | NAC::FORREST |  | Tue Nov 15 1994 18:39 | 14 |
| | Jose, I have loaned my only Frontier manual out so that the writing job
    can be sized up. The directions for Windows and ULTRIX are similar
    though for Logging and Reporting. My guess as to the reason why Reports
    is not working, is that you do not have logging set up properly.
    Read the file on ULTRIX reports at NAC::NIPG:[MANAGE.RMON]LOGREPRT.TXT;
    Windows is similar, except that starting the report generation is in the
    application, not from the command line.

    The discovery problem is temporary. Frontier removed discovery from the
    client application, because discovery is always turned on in their probe
    firmware now. We have to get new DECpacketprobe firmware to make this
    work. When we do, I think that IP, DECnet, and IPX names are all
    extracted automatically. Hopefully, we will have a new firmware kit
    available in December.
