1682.1 | Do not use the Ethernet address for anything but the DECbridge 90/90FL | ROGER::GAUDET | Because the Earth is 2/3 water | Fri Nov 11 1994 10:28 | 13 |
| The DECagent 90 supports the DECndu 'show' command using only the IP address.
Only the DECbridge 90/90FL supports the 'show' command using the Ethernet
address.
I know of no problems with DECndu which would result in the behavior you have
seen. Assuming proper IP connectivity (a big assumption sometimes) you should
get a valid response using the DECndu 'show' command with the IP address. Given
the fact that the upgrade completed successfully, there is no reason why the
'show' command should fail. In fact, an upgrade using the '/f decagent' switch
does two 'show' commands, one before the upgrade and one after. I presume those
both showed the expected response?

1682.2 | no MAC address for decndup /s on DA90 | DRAC::DSMAIL | | Fri Nov 11 1994 11:57 | 10 |

Roger,
OK, no MAC address should be used for DA; i've tried in another site.
with IP address works in this site but not in yesterday's.
Moreover I used
a:\> decndup /u /v /i /n <MAC Address> c:\firmware\denma021.sys
for downloading.

1682.3 | MOP load vs. TFTP load | ROGER::GAUDET | Because the Earth is 2/3 water | Fri Nov 11 1994 12:51 | 15 |
| Jordi...
DECagent 90's with V2.0 and later firmware support both MOP (MAC address) and
TFTP (IP address) downline upgrades. DECagent 90's running V1.1 support MOP
only. DECndu does things very differently depending on whether it is doing a
MOP or TFTP load. There is no implicit 'show' command when doing a MOP load.
However, for most of the devices which support TFTP, the 'show' command is an
integral part of the script that executes when the load takes place (that's what
the '/f' switch does). You will notice that you do not specify the '/f' switch
when doing a MOP load.
I still do not understand why you cannot get a response from the 'show' command
at the other site when using the IP address.
