I need to bridge the Internal FDDI inside the DEChun900 with an external FDDI. Can I use the folowing mofules? 1. DECswitch 900 (use the internal and external fddi connectors) 2. DECconcentrator (use 2 out of the 6 interfaces as A and B) I assume tha the PEswitch does not have DFDDI connectors on the front pannel so it can not be used as a bridge. ilan

If your question is "can I build a 100-100 bridge" the answer is
'no, that isn't possible'. To bridge together two FDDIs you need
to use a Gigaswitch. You would build a ring in the DEChub, and then
connect the gigaswitch to that ring (probably via an M port of the
concentrator) You'd connect the other FDDI to a second bridge port
    of the gigaswitch.

| This is not what I meant. The question was can I make an FDDI ring with the internal bus and external devices using either the DECconcentrator (port 1 and 6) or the DECswitch (its FDDI interfaces on the front pannel). I assume that using the PEswitch it cant be done (since it doesn't have FDDI connectors on the front pannel). can someone confirm it? Ilan | |||||

Yes - you can make the backplane FDDI connect to an external FDDI with
any hub device that has front panel FDDI connectors.

That is correct. The PEswitch 900TX does not have any FDDI connection
    on its front panel.
