My customer is in the process of migrating from DECbridge 620s to DECbridge 900MXs. With the DECbridge 620s, RING purge could be disabled... Can RING PURGE be disabled on a DECbridge 900MX, if so can it be done via HUBwatch, MCC or Netview . -Charlie

Yes, you can enable or disable Ring Purge for the DECbridge 900MX, DECswitch 900EF, and PEswitch 900TX. Through HUBwatch, press the FDDI More Info button on the bridge/switch Summary window. That brings you to the HUBwatch standard FDDI Summary window. From there press the Summary button under MAC Info. In the Ring Purge box in that window are radio buttons for enable and disable. Everything that happens in HUBwatch happens through SNMP, so if you've got any kind of management tool that talks SNMP, you can do it, too. Enable: SET eMACRingPurgerEnable.1.1 = [1] Disable: SET eMACRingPurgerEnable.1.1 = [2] | |||||

It's disabled by default on this product. We found more people preferred to have it off than on. Anil |
