hi , Using My famous Decpacketprobe90 V2.1 ,in items 8 in the menu mode i can switch From/to Ethernet From/to Serial (using SLIP) Switching to Serial items, after rebooting the probe , it seems to reset to Ethernet choice.?? Why , is a desired feature .?? how to lock it on Serial port ?? thanks for any comments Jean-Yves

I do not think it can be locked to the Serial port. It works
somewhat like the DECagent 90 console port. On both, you can
connect a terminal and set the port up to operate as a SLIP
port. On both you can reset the module or power cycle it to
have the port return to being a console port.
This is necessary, because you may need to use the console function
again some day, and you would not want it to remain in SLIP
forever.

Trying the console port in Slip mode, but i can't interrogate the probe using Slip connection from My pc i put an analyser and saw : my pc asked in Slip mode (using slip stack provided in hubwatch) but probe answered with ... the menu and of course could'nt understand slip language... any special things to add or may be some incantations or others mystery.. | |||||
