Yes, We've tried from different accounts, after checking account quotas.
All the accounts are set up to run DECmcc, and do so OK.
In the DECterm windows from which we fire HUBwatch, we get the normal messages
as far as SLOT 1 ONLINE (or UP, I forget), SLOT 8 ONLINE, but no futher
information as to status of each slot's ports.
We initially saw the problem with HW V2.?, so we upgraded to V3.0 - same problem
stilll there. I can post the exact text of the windwow messages tomorrow if
that would be useful.
(ps - I'm working on the customer site and logged the problem with the support
centre after two of us couldn't figure it out)

1591.3 | Of course HUBwatch works! | SLINK::HOOD | I'd rather be at the Penobscot | Thu Oct 20 1994 12:13 | 15 |
| Well, then. If you can do everything you said, then HUBwatch must work.
(What's the Latin phrase for that kind of proof?)
Absolutely every bit of info you can provide would be helpful. Or contact
me directly and we'll try to work it through.
One interesting tidbit is that if it is printing out the slot info on the
DECterm, then SNMP traffic is flowing. There is a magic trick we can do
to watch all the SNMP traffic generated or received by HUBwatch. Maybe
that will help.
Call me for more details or some help.

Just an others ideas,
watch your process with another decterm when you are in loop
to see , if really the process works or if wait for any reasons
Put an analyzer on the wire ,to see if you have some kinds of exchange
between your HUB and your NMS

This can be done from HUBwatch itself through an unofficial feature.

But since this feature is classified, if Tom tells you about it, he'll have to
kill you. :-)

1591.8 | Yes, it's in COM all the time - magic words needed | YUPPY::SEDTU6::KORMAN | tgif!! | Fri Oct 21 1994 05:24 | 13 |

The process is definitely in a COM loop - we already tried watching
it from another DECterm and it does no IO, just clocks up CPU seconds
in real time!
Tom - can I phone you from outside DEC to get the secret incantation -
whats your number?
Thanks,
Dave

As i known this "incantation"(Keyboard+Mouse) trace only Snmp Traffic,
some Others data on the wire should be interesting...

| Dictatyping message from Dave
Special incantation has revealed that SNMP traffic ceases after the HUB outline
is diplayed. Prior to that SNMP traffic reveals no errors and appears to be
sensible, i.e. seems to get all status information.

Dave will not be on site this afternoon but will be tomorrow.
