Is it possible to configure the A and B ports of DECswitch 900 EF and DECconcentrator 900 MX so that the A port is accessible on the Backplane of the DEChub 900 MS and the B port is available on the front of the module or does it have to be both on the backplaneor both from the front of the module? The customer wants to be able to utilize both so he can have some redundancy from a faillure of the DEChub other than power. Regards, -Scott

1585.1 | Splitting A and B ports between front & back are ok... | NETCAD::BATTERSBY | Mon Oct 17 1994 15:45 | 5
Yes you can do this. For more details on legal FDDI configurations, please be sure and chack out Karl Pieper's FDDI config rules in base note #651. Bob
1585.2 | Yes, but | NETCAD::B_CRONIN | Tue Oct 18 1994 17:44 | 13
It is possible to have B on the front panel, and A out the back backplane. Hubwatch's ligo types will show an icon, with a B in the front, and an A in the back. Select that icon, and it will configure correctly. But, I'm not sure that this answers your question. If what you are asking is whether a single module can be accessed from both the front and the back, the answer is no, it cannot. This icon, and the opposite one of A out the front, B out the back are designed for connecting the dual ring thru the backplane. Can you draw a picture of what the customer wants to do? I can't offer more than this given what's here right now.
