1569.0. "Decserver prefered service & hubwatch" by KERNEL::WARDJO () Thu Oct 13 1994 11:38

    Hello,

    I have a customer who has managed to lock up his ports on his Decserver
    90tl. He does this by setting the access to none from hubwatch and then
    resetting it back to local.

    When you connect to the server & do a show/list port the access shows
    as local but the terminal still gets no response. Logging the port out
    has no effect. If you enter the >define port n access local and then
    log the port out the terminal comes back to life.

    I have managed to reproduce this and it would seem that it only occurs
    when a preferred service is defined for the port.

    Has anyone an explanation for this?

    Hubwatch V3.0 for VMS
    Decserver 90TL V1.1a BL45
    Also reproduced on Decserver 900 NAS V1.4
    Dechub900 V3.1
    When I reproduced the problem I addressed the decservers directly from
    hubwatch.

    Thanks,

    Jon

1569.1Try TOOK::TERMINAL_SERVERSSLINK::HOODI'd rather be at the PenobscotThu Oct 13 1994 13:381
You'll need to report this in the TOOK::TERMINAL_SERVERS conference.
1569.2Cross posted, but only seen with HubwatchKERNEL::WARDJOFri Oct 14 1994 05:3711

    I have cross posted this in the TERMINAL_SERVERS conference (note
    2001.0) but the symptoms are only produced when useing Hubwatch.

    When doing the equivalent commands at the Local> prompt, the port comes
    back to life after logging it out.

    Thanks,

1569.3DECserver SNMP bug?SLINK::HOODI'd rather be at the PenobscotFri Oct 14 1994 11:416
If the SHOW PORT characteristics in the server show local, it sounds like
a bug in the DECserver's SNMP code. If this is a problem, you'll probably
need to file a CLD against the DECserver.

1569.4Yes it is LocalKERNEL::WARDJOWed Oct 19 1994 09:468
    Thanks for the reply Tom,

    Yes, the access on the port does say local from a >SHOW PORT n command.

    I'll continue this in TERMINAL_SERVERS
