I just installed probewatch on a pc for the first time. I tried to add an agent and got the message "!Cannot open the agent file". I created a HOSTS file and it is located in the /PROBEW directory. Is there something I am missing? d.j.

I had the same problem with a pc running IP from pathworks. I had to use the HOSTS file located in the pathworks directory as work-around. regards yves | |||||

regarding .0 It seems like you were probably trying to install the old kit without reading the Release Notes, which were in the higher level directory (my fault). That particular kit had to be installed in the \nsclient directory, but the install suggested \probew. When PROBEwatch looked for the agent file, it looked in \nsclient, and there was no such directory. This has been fixed in the network kit for many weeks now, so try the latest kit. regarding .1 Is it possible that you booted, starting the network from the Pathworks directory? If so, the PROBEwatch will look there for the HOSTS file. |
