| 1/ put a Terminal on port 1 of ds900 and see error message during the loading
2/ under Hubwatch/Lan-interconnect options, see how is connected ths ds900
(on which lan an with lan port),if my memory serves me , leg number 2
if used for Load operation
hopes that help you

1518.2 | Do you have connectivity? | NETCAD::SLAWRENCE | | Tue Oct 04 1994 17:38 | 4 |

I assume that all the modules are in the hub - where is the load host
(how is it connected to the hub)?

| re: .1 - I forgot to include that I had a terminal on port 1 of the
server. It says that it's trying MOP ISO8802, MOP ETHERNET, IP ETHERNET
for the load and then says it's backing off.
Also, I don't have HUBwatch installed because I thought it should all
all the modules would auto-connect to the Thinwire segment. So, the
DS900TM should connect itself to the Thinwire and the DB900MX should
also auto-connect to the Thinwire. The customer's systems are on either
coming in via the FDDI (2 Digital 2100 systems) or via port 7 which is
hooked to their backbone. On the DB900, I see 1-7 green lights which I
suspect are the activity lights for the DB900 Ethernet segments and
they show activity.
Have I missed something or do you need more info?

1518.4 | The DECbridge is FRONT-PORT only w/out HUBwatch | MSDOA::REED | John Reed @CBO, DTN:367-6463, KB4FFE, SouthEast | Tue Oct 04 1994 21:29 | 9 |
| The DECbridge900mx by default has NO CONNECTION TO THE BACKPLANE.
Only the front AUI and RJ45 ports are active. A quick check would be
to connect any of the DECbridge's 10BaseT ports to any of the
DECrepeater 900TM 10BaseT ports. This would attach the DECbridge to
the Backplane without using HUBwatch.
Good Luck.

| Aha! That's what I'll do. The CSC is obviously not aware of this. I'll
have them plug in the repeater port to a free DECbridge port and
re-test.

1518.6 | No default connect for bridges or concentrators | NETCAD::SLAWRENCE | | Thu Oct 06 1994 13:57 | 5 |

Neither the bridge nor the concentrator get connected to any backplane
channels by default.

I can understand the concentrator, but I think the default for the
DECbridge 900 should be a default connection to the Thinwire. did I
hear wrong that there are 7 Ethernets on this bridge (1 internal and 6
external)? If so, why can't a default connection be made to the
thinwire?

| DECbridge 900MX, DECswitch 900EF: 6 ethernets, 1 fddi.

1518.9 | DS900EF port 3 has hooks to backplane thinwire | NETCAD::BATTERSBY | | Fri Oct 07 1994 15:30 | 5 |
| The second Ethernet port of a DS900EF (port 3), which is the
first of 4 UTP ports is the port that can optionally be connected
in a HUB to the Thinwire LAN on the backplane.
