1500.0. "PEswitch 900 TX backplane connections" by CGOOA::CRICK () Thu Sep 29 1994 18:24

    Does the PEswitch 900 TX use any of the first 6 flex channels? I would
    like to use the PEswitch along with the 12 port fiber repeater and a
    DECswitch 900 EF and I'm assuming that I will be able to have 6
    Ethernet segments on the backplane and a FDDI ring to which the
    DECswitch 900 EF and the PEswitch 900 TX will be connected to. This
    would allow me to have 12 ethernet segments (6 in the hub and 6 through
    the PEswitch) bridged to the FDDI backplane ring.

    Yes the PEswitch 900TX is capable of using the first 6 of 12
    flex channels on the backplane, or any combination of 6 of
    the 12 available flex channels.

    Very small nit. The 900 backplane lower connector has 10 full channels
    and 4 half channels for a total of 14. You can create up to 14
    FDDI channels or up to 16 Ethernets or some combination of both.

    Until more chips are installed in the 900 Ethernet modules we can only
    use the IMB on the upper connector and the first 5 channels on the
    lowe connectors.

1500.3The PEswitch can only use the top 6 channels...NETCAD::BATTERSBYTue Oct 04 1994 13:536
    Ok....my brain was leaking molasses or something when I replied.
    The FDDI to the backplane can use any of the 12 channels.
    The Ethernet to the backplane is dedicated to the top 6 channels
    just like the other DECbridge/DECswitch modules.
