1463.0. "Using DECROU to upload new firmware" by TROFS::WEBSTER (NIS, London, Canada) Wed Sep 21 1994 16:54
In the interest of trying to keep the number of programs on my
laptop to a minimum, I have been sucessfull in using the DECNIS configurator/
loading program DECROU to upload new firmware to DEChub modules. Thus, I
do not have to load DECndu on the laptop.
If you follow the configuration information in the DECNIS notes file
for loading DECROU, you should not have any problems getting DECROU to run.
I have the 425SL with a XIRCOM PCMCIA adapter working great.
To make it work, edit the BOOTP.TAB file and add the lines mentioned
in the DECbrouter note 310 with the MAC address of DEChub module and the IP
address of the module. Place the firmware file in the DECROU\COMMON directory.
From the 900 module menu, the filename will be
"drive:\DECROU\COMMON\filename.BIN" and then supply the IP address stated in
the NETSET program.
My next goal is to test if "write network" or "config network"
DECbrouter commands will work using DECROU. I will update when tested.
