My customer wants to use the following configuration. It looks like it is out of limits to me. Can someone confirm this? ----------- VAX----FOT---------------------| | | DR900FP | PC-----DEMPR----FOT------------| | in DEChub 900 | | +----------| | | ----------- | ---------- | DR90FS | in DEChub 90 ---------- | | FOT------DEMPR | PCs Looks like to many repeaters to me. How about putting a DECbridge 90FL in the DEChub 90 with the DR90FS? Thanks, Mark

1461.1 | Looks legal, but a bridge can't hurt. | MSDOA::REED | John Reed @CBO, DTN:367-6463, KB4FFE, SouthEast | Wed Sep 21 1994 19:26 | 11 |
It's at the limit of the 5-4-3 rule (5 segments, two are coax) and the full four repeaters. I would not do it, cause the customers will always add things to their networks without considering any rules. A design from Digital should (in my opinion) be conservative, and should allow the customer to add modules without breaking the rules the first time. Use the DECconnect HUB designer software, and run it through. It should come out find in model 1, and model 2 analysis. JR | |||||
