Is the following config workable, using SLIP thru the OBM port. DEChub 900MS OBM port IP address : 153.128.128.10 HUB IP address using slot 8: 153.128.128.1 Slot 8 conc IP address : 153.128.128.8 PC with Hubwatch : 153.128.128.10 Subnet mask is 255.255.0.0 for PC The PC is connected to the OBM port directly, thru the COM port. Must the PC IP address match the OBM IP address in this case? I tried using different address for the OBM and PC, and HUBwatch only gives a blank chassis screen, without power supply, modules. Is this normal. Raj Singapore

Raj, The hub OBM and PC should have different IP addresses. Bob

Bob, I tried with 2 different IP addresses, but non of the modules or power supply show on the screen. Only a blank multiswitch shows up. I have 5 concentrators sitting in the hub. If I run HW with ethernet card on the PC, thru a FDDI/eth bridge and use the In band address, everything is ok. Any idea what could be the problem. Does the In Band and Outband address need to be different subnets? Raj

Raj, The In band and OBM addresses do not need to be in different subnets. You might try (if you haven't) rebooting your PC and see if that cures the problem. Bob

Also, make sure that the speed of the OBM port on the HUB matches the speed of the serial port on the PC |
