1404.0. "IP services conc mod, wrong on PNV/OV map" by ZPOVC::RAMARAJ () Mon Sep 12 1994 10:41
Customer has DEChub 900MS with 7 concentrators in it.
They are alll in the same ring.
All in a tree config using external ports.
Concentrators in slot 2-7 have individual address. Slot 8 conc is IP services
for the hub.
Using slot 8 IP services address HW can see the whole hub and all conc.
From HP Openview or PNV the autodiscovery picks up conc in 2-7 in a ring
in the same subnet.
The slot 8 conc appears as a sperate network with no connection the ring, and
worst still appears as a segment. It gives a wrong representation of
the network.
If slot 8 conc is given a IP address and not used as an IP services module for
the hub, then all conc appear in the ring.
But this causes problem, because then Hubwatch only sees individual conc and
not the whole hub.
How can this avoided, can the IP services conc module appear in the ring.

This may not directly answer your question, but may help...
You can use the slot 8 (or any other) concentrator for IP services for
the hub _and_ give it its own address; note that the two addresses must
not be the same.
