1388.0. "LATprint in DEChub?" by PFSVAX::MCELWEE (Opponent of Oppression) Wed Sep 07 1994 14:28

    	(Cross posted in TOOK::TERMINAL_SERVERS)

    	1) Can LATprint units be installed into DEChubs? The 1994 DECdirect
    catalog says yes (P. 57). It also says it is manageable via
    HUBwatch/SNMP/TSM. Note 651.5 in TOOK::TERMINAL_SERVERS says no to
    DEChub; Note 990 speculates on management options...

    	I understood that it does (did) not have management bus
    support similar to the early production DSRVG. What are the facts?

    	If LATprint can be installed in a DEChub then:

    	2) Can the LATprint unit be customer ordered without the power supply?
    Theonly p/n I've seen is the LNXXD-AA in the catalogs, however the LNXXD-M
    is a no power supply variant via logistics for the same price!

    	To answer my own questions:

    	Yes for a power source. The DENMA will translate SNMP-MOP for
    managment, but no autodiscovery in the HUB.

    No. Send the uneeded power supply to the EPA or Digital disposal
    anonomously...nonsense IMO.

    Caveat- the LATprint device has a potentially lethal "genetic" disease.

1388.2No HUBwatch support for LATprintSLINK::HOODI'd rather be at the PenobscotMon Sep 12 1994 12:094
HUBwatch does not manage the LATprint. The catalog is wrong.

The DENMA does not manage the LATprint.

1388.4Is my summary correct?PFSVAX::MCELWEEOpponent of OppressionMon Sep 12 1994 23:4318
    Re: .2 & .3-

    	Thanks for the clarification, my source wasn't absolutely sure.

    	To summarize:

    	1) LATprint can be mounted in a DEChub for power/network
    connections.

    	2) LATprint cannot be managed via HUBwatch/DENMA.

    	3) LATprint can be managed only via MOP/TSM.

    	4) LATprint cannot be ordered sans power supply by customers.

    Correct?
