1364.0. "90C and CRC errors" by HITEKS::PEER () Wed Aug 31 1994 10:46
Could someone please validate, clarify or give me someone that I may
speak with in reference to this. I have been told that there is a
potential problem with the retiming on the 90C module. Specifically
that if I have the 90C attached to a segment or segments which use
large packet sizes and vendor NIC cards in the PCs, that I may
experience CRC and framing errors on those segments. It was also
explained to me that there may be a list of vendor NIC cards that could
be suspect. I have a customer which is using mostly MAC's and I have
been logging both CRC and framing errors on those segments. I have
tested the segments with a TDR and monitored them with a Sniffer. The
TDR test helped me eliminate some bad cabling but after that I'm still
logging errors.
As this is a new installation for NIS, I need to figure out what my
next step is going to be. Any help with this 90C issue would be greatly
appreciated.
Regards,
Regina
