1347.0. "HUBwatch for Windows questions" by GRANPA::DFAUST (Bad Things, man...) Thu Aug 25 1994 11:07

I have a customer that is only running IPX on his DEChubs and has some
questions regarding monitoring ports. He clicks on a DECrepeater 90
port that is active (attached to a bridge into the Novell network) and
all of the guages displayed are at 0. He knows that there is some
traffic passing on this port because there are users attached to other
ThinWire ports on the same DECrepeater 90 and they are functioning just
fine. The customer is running HUBwatch for Windows version 2.

Also, it there any training available for customers on the HUBwatch
    products?

1347.1Counters may not be implemented by repeaterNACAD::PAGLIARORich Pagliaro, Hub Products GroupThu Aug 25 1994 11:227
Which DECrepeater 90 are you trying this on. DECrepeaters 90T, 90C,
90FA, and 90FL do not implement any of the traffic counters needed for
HUBwatch to accurately display its guages. DECrepeaters 90TS and 90FS
implement a rich set of traffic counters (i.e., the same ones
implemented by the DECrepeater 900 family of products).

It is indeed a DECrepeater 90C. What is a DECrepeater 90FS or 90TS....
I don't see them in any of my books? I am currently trying to put
together a ThinWire network using DEChub90s and would be interested in
them if the support 10Base2 inputs.

ALso, I am still in need of an answer to the training question.

1347.3I can't answer your training question.NACAD::PAGLIARORich Pagliaro, Hub Products GroupThu Aug 25 1994 12:3028
The DECrepeater 90TS is an Ethernet repeater with 8 front panel
    10BASE-T ports (UTP/STP), a side 10BASE-2 port, and a rear-cover AUI
port (when operating in a stand-alone configuration). The DECrepeater
90FS has two front panel 10BASE-FL ports, a front panel AUI port, and a
    side 10BASE-2 port.

While both of these modules have a DEChub 90 module form factor, they
have all the management capabilities of a DECrepeater 900 module. That
is, they have an embedded SNMP agent so they are fully managable
stand-alone. They can operate in stand-alone configurations, in a
DEChub 90 chassis, and a DEChub 900MS chassis.

Both of these modules support per-port eavesdrop and intrusion security
and both can act as IP servers for a DEChub 900MS. The DECrepeater
    90FS supports dual-port redundancy.

The DECrepeater 90FS has been shipping since May. Some DECrepeater
90TS modules have been shipped to a limited set customers. I believe it is
slated for volume shipments sometime in September or October.

I'll leave it to someone from HUBwatch engineering or product
management to answer your questions regarding HUBwatch training.

    Regard,

    Rich
