1315.0. "DECrepeater90FS redundancy configuration question" by COMBAT::JONSSON (Lars Jonsson) Tue Aug 16 1994 13:50

Hi,

I wonder if the configuration below is supported. I have a customer with a
DEChub900 at every floor. Each hub is today connected to an Ethernet port on
a DECnis via DECrepeater90FA and a DEFLM. Is it possible to achive redundance
with DECrepeater90FS instead of the 90FA, like in the figure below?

What I want is: fiber A and B should normally be active while fiber C is in
backup mode. When something goes wrong with fiber A or B, fiber C should be
activated and the 2 hubs should be connected the same DECnis.

Looking forward to comments on this....

    The short answer to your question is no, the DECrepeater 90FS will not
    support redundancy in the configuration you drew in .0. See 908.* for a
    discussion as to why redundancy won't work in this situation. Please
    let me know if you have more questions.
