1293.1 | FTP copy instructions for internal people | NAC::FORREST | | Thu Aug 11 1994 21:04 | 11 |
|
Copy the following files for intructions on accessing the MIBs on
gatekeeper from a node running UCX (aka TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS)
NAC::NIPG:[MANAGE.HARDWARE]FTP_INSTRUCTIONS.TXT
NAC::NIPG:[MANAGE.HARDWARE]MIB.TXT
Maybe someone should post a DECnet accessible location for people
who do not have an account on a node running TCP/IP?

First, gatekeeper *is* in Digital. If you don't have IP connectivity to
it, you could access it via DECnet. 'gatekeeper's DECnet name is DECWRL.
So e.g. from VMS you could do a
$ dir decwrl::"/archive/pub/DEC/hub900/mibs"
and voila...

1293.3 | Can't access DECWRL is another location available? | KAOFS::S_HYNDMAN | Acronym Decoder Ring Architect | Fri Nov 11 1994 09:14 | 18 |

I've been trying to get the DEChub 900 and GIGASWITCH mibs from
DECWRL via decnet without success. From DECnet/OSI I get
dls: directory read error "DEC", No such file or directory
dls: directory read error "Digital", No such file or directory
DECnet Phase IV gives me no files found. There is no IP in Canada.
Is there another location I can pull these from? Does anyone else
have this problem accessing DECWRL?

1293.4 | GIGAswitch/FDDI release area | NPSS::MDLYONS | Michael D. Lyons - Young enough and dumb enough | Fri Nov 11 1994 10:27 | 10 |
| The current release for GIGAswitch/FDDI, including the MIB, is
available in:
SCHOOL::SONOMA_FW:[SONOMA_FW_RM.RELEASE]
There is also a QB kit (QB-0JGAA-SA) which includes both firmware
and documentation.
..or you could ask your customer to copy it for you (only half
kidding).

That pointer doesn't seem to be a valid one. I can get to school::
but not to those directories.

You can access DECWRL::, you just can't get to the subdirectory pub/DEC. It
looks like decnet access to the archives is screwed up. You might want
to send mail to [email protected] and have them fix it.

Thanks for the pointer. I contacted them and the file system is
screwed up. They were able to partially fix it. The /mibs directory
is now working though.
The school cluster seems to be weird as well. If you get the right
node in the cluster you can get to that directory but not another node.

1293.8 | DECnet access to MIBs | ROGER::GAUDET | Because the Earth is 2/3 water | Mon Nov 14 1994 14:12 | 8 |
| OK, here it is. DECnet access to the currently supported MIBS for the DEChub.
NETCAD::PROJ$722:[ONEHUB.RELEASE.MIBS]
These are the same files as those posted on the Internet directory at
ftp.digital.com (or gatekeeper.dec.com).
