1230.0. "Can't connect Concentrator 900 into FDDI ring" by ZUR01::SCHNEIDERR () Fri Jul 15 1994 10:31

Hello,

On one of our customer sites I saw a very strange situation.

After a "network-hang", one of our Concentrator 900 was out of our backplane 
FDDI ring.

We have one Bridge900 and two Concentrator900 in a backplane FDDI ring. After the
"network-hang", one Concentrator was out of the ring. If you tried to reconnect
it to the FDDI, by pulling down the FDDI-point in the LANinterconnection window,
it went back (robber-band) to the initial position. We tried a lot, and not till
we reseted the MAM to factory defaults, it worked. After the factory-reset, we
were able to reconfiger all.
We tried our something here in the lab and saw the same problem. Badly we were
not able to reproduce it a second time and we don't know what was the reason 
for the problem.

Hello Roland,

  i have already see this kind of "feature" here, for me a download of firmware
  of DECconcentrator cured the problem,

  any entry in errorlog of DECconcentrator ??

Don't know the LOGfile entries at the moment. When I go the next time to 
the customer, I will have a look eon it. The strange thing is, that we had the
same situation in our lab (a collegue saw it). I will ask for a LOGfile.

  in fact, in this case, MAM seems remember old connexion from the DC900
  and refused any others.may be fixed in forthcomming 60 days upgrade...
