1218.0. "What's the plan until V3.1 Hubwatch for DB900MX/DC900MX?" by KAOFS::S_HYNDMAN (Acronym Decoder Ring Architect) Wed Jul 13 1994 10:28

How do we support/sell our DEChub 900 solutions, particularly those
involving DB900MX/DC900MX in non VAX/VMS shops? I'm sure this must have
been considered as part of the business plan. With V3.1 of Hubwatch
for windows not available, do we include a turn key Vax with
pre-installed V3.0 Hubwatch for VMS with every three hubs purchased?

Are we forced to allocate a VAX station for Hubwatch, put it on the
customer site to configure the network, and then disappear with the
management tool with promises to return at a future date with something
    they can use?

Can we stage all this stuff first, configure it all, then take it out
on site and hope there were no misconfigurations?

Are we resticted to front pannel connections only? The response so
far has been that we don't have a hub in this case only a multi-slot power
    supply.

1218.1We are making changes...NAC::FORRESTMon Jul 25 1994 14:366
Scott, we don't have infinite Engineering resources to do everything
in parallel. Beginning with V3.1 in September, Windows will catch
up with VMS, except for Gigaswitch support. New modules will be
supported on Windows first beginning at V4.0. Then VMS will lag,
	but hopefully not by much.

Gee I thought everbody had as much money as they need. Apparently
DEC thinks think I do. What I can say is that the decision to put Hubwatch
for VMS ahead of Hubwatch for Windows has and will continue to kill
sales of our hub products into non-VMS shops.

I am encouraged to see that the priority has changed to Windows.
Just don't expect alot of sales from the DB900MX and DC900MX outside of
    our installed base.

My two cents, oh yeah and my customers.
