1176.0. "DB900MX and DC900MX questions?" by WARABI::CHIUANDREW () Thu Jun 30 1994 02:21
Hi,
Customer would like to set up filters (MAC address and protocols) on
DB900MX (each port has its own filtering requirements), but after
reading HUBwatch V3.0 (OpenVMS), it does not tell us how to set up
filters. And when we try to play with filter with HUBwatch V3.0
(OpenVMS), we get error msg 'protocol is not selected!'.
1) Could someone point me where I can have the 'instructions' to set up
filters on DB900MX?
2) In notes 726.2, it seems to me that we can filter by IP or DECnet
addressesm, is it correct (that means we can perform filtering at
routing layers)?
3) When looking at the bridge summary window, it shows us the filtering
rate in graphic forms, but does not show filter % in numeric value, is
there any workaround that we can have filter % in numeric form?
4) After we have set up a DC900MX (FDDI Concentrator) with HUBmanger
console (with IP address, trap, default IP gateway), we still cannot
perform the following functions:
PING, GET TRAPS from HUBwatch V3.0 (OpenVMS) (THe VMS system does not
have SNMP traps process at all).
But we can see the DC900MX via HUBwatch V3.0 (OpenVMS) using the IP
address of the HUBmanager (when the IBM is DB900MX).
5) With HUBwatch V3.0 (OpenVMS), we can see/view the DC900MX, but it
does not tell us the UNA/DNA (Upstream/Downstream Neighbour Address) as
DB900MX, is there any workaround to show the UNA/DNA (because we can
get these addresses with DB900MX)?
thanks in advance for help

Try the <HELP> button at the bottom of either the address or protocol
filters screen. HUBwatch documentation is the help files.

No. HUBwatch will attempt to translate your IP or DECnet name/adrs
into a MAC address. The bridge filters by MAC address only.

No, not in V3.0. This has been added to V3.1.
