The problem you described was discovered during DVT, and was at first assumed
to be a manufacturing goof. The ID of the DB90 / DB90FL is contained within
a ROM and it was assumed that manufacturing used the wrong ROM. Actually, they
were using the part they were supposed to - but it contains a bug. There are
at least three (and maybe more) ways to "who are you" the DB90. One of these
methods, which previously had never been tried, or at least not extensively,
is via Left Hitchcock. It appears that the location the LH handler looks at
contains a "FL" identifier for both the DB90 and th DB90FL.
The fix for this is a new ROM which will be (has been???) introduced with a new
hardware revision of the DEWGB. The new ROM is backward compatible and COULD
be used to upgrade DEWGB's if they currently have V2.* base ROMs. The new ROM
can NOT be used to replace a V1.* base ROM. However, at this time I am unaware
of any plans to upgrade any existing units or to make the ROM available for
Field Upgrades.
