The DECrepeater 90C does not provide any statistics, so HUBwatch can't
show them to you. I believe that the only functionality you get with
this repeater is port status, port enable/disable, and address tracking
(and because of some limitations in the way this must be done on the
DEChub 900 it needs to have been running a while before the information
you get this way is complete).
If you pull any module when it is powered up, the MAM will delete
backplane configuration associated with that slot.

| ...However, the 90FS supports the counters, security and dual port
redunadancy so it has all of the managment capabilities of a 900
repeater.

1112.3 | 90FS and internal IMB segment | HITEKS::PEER | | Tue Jun 14 1994 23:27 | 10 |
| If the 90FS module has the same functionality as the 900 modules, is it
possible for me to connect one of the internal connections on that
module to an IMB segment. I noticed that when I view the module that it
has both the blue leg and a green leg. If I can pull the green leg down
to another IMB segment that would really help. The customer wants the
fiber connection bridged from the rest of the network.

Regina,
You can connect the green leg to either the Thinwire or an IMB
segment. An important difference from other IMB-able repeaters is that
once you connect the DECrepeater 90FS to an IMB segment, any other
DECrepeater 90FS module's green leg can only be placed on that same
IMB segment or the Thinwire (as long as the initial 90FS connection
remains). The 90FS uses the IMB in the Secretariat backplane. Since
there is only one, they must share.

Bob

| Look for the Install/Config guide in

It's there, I just looked.

1112.6 | Backplane Questions | HITEKS::PEER | | Wed Jun 15 1994 18:42 | 13 |
| Bob,
I'm not sure I understand what the "secretariat backplane". Could
you elaborate on that a little more. This is the only 90FS in this hub
but I connect that fiber link via another standalone 90FS. I want to
be able to bridge that segment. From what I think I'm reading I believe
that I won't have any problem...as long as I explain the restrictions,
but I think I need to understand it a little better before I can
explain it to the customer.
Thanks for the input....Regina
P.S. If there is a pointer to the information that would be nice!

1112.7 | 90FS connects to HUB backplane connector called Secretariat | NACAD2::BATTERSBY | | Wed Jun 15 1994 19:10 | 8 |
| What Bob is referring to is that there are two connectors for
each backplane slot that are used by the 900 series max modules.
The smaller one at the top is the 48 pin Secretariat connector.
The other connector is referred to as the 160 pin Matrix connector.
The 90FS is one of the smaller modules which only connects to the
top connector or Secretariat connector.

1112.8 | Don't worry, be happy... | NACAD2::SLAWRENCE | | Thu Jun 16 1994 09:32 | 13 |
| Of the 6 flexible channels used for IMBs by current repeaters, 1 is on
the upper (DEChub 90 compatible) connector, and 5 are on the lower
connector. A half height module capable of using an IMB can therefor
only reach 1.
The Hub will allocate that channel to the first IMB that any half
height module is connected to. What -.2 was saying was that if you
then had another 90FS and tried to connect it to a different IMB, the
attempt would fail (because there would not be another available
channel that the module could use).
It doesn't sound like this applies to you however.
