HUBwatch ver 1.0 Problem with DE-204 card, WINDOWS ver 3.1, PATHWORKS ver 4.2 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We are planning to Install HUBWATCH on a TCP/IP environment on Pathworks using a DE-204 card, but have not been successful so far. Can some HUBWATCH/PATHWORKS/TCP-IP experts out there help us with their suggest- ions and ideas please? HERE ARE THE DETAILS: -------------------- The Site contains 4 nos of DEC 900TM (32 port Twisted Pair Repeater) interconn- ected on a thickwire backbone. There are 2 DEMPRs (Thinwire Multiport Repeater) on the Thickwire Backbone. One Thinwire Segment of the DEMPR has been used EXCLUSIVELY for connecting the below said HUBwatch Station. 1. SYSTEM : DEC 486 system 2. WINDOWS : MS-WINDOWS version 3.1 3. PATHWORKS : DEC Pathworks for Ultrix Version 1.1a DEC Pathworks for DOS version 4.2 4. DOS : DOS version 6.00 5. ETHERNET CARD : DE-204 (DEC EtherWORKS-III card) OBSERVATIONS : ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The network runs on TCP/IP protocol. Pathworks for TCP-IP/ULTRIX works and sets hosts to the servers withount any problems using the DE-204 card and drivers. When we modify the config.sys and autoexec.bat files to suit the HUBwatch and reboot the system, we observe the following message being displayed while booting: ERROR "PACKET DRIVER IS AT SEGMENT 074B" we modified the config.sys file to load the packet driver to D000-DFFF and for this we got the message : ERROR " PACKET DRIVER IS AT SEGMENT 0933" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- we need to know whether Hubwatch is supported on the above said MS-Windows, DOS and Pathworks versions? We need to know whether the above said HUBwatch software supports TCP/IP ? We need to know whether Pathworks and HUBwatch can co-exist or do they need seperate Ethernet cards ? Does HUBwatch support the DE-204 card? Thanks in advance.... Anil

Do you really mean HUBwatch V1.0? If so, that won't support your 32 port repeaters. You need V2.0 at least. Tom Hood HUBwatch
1109.2 | Further clarification on Note 1109.0 | XKOV01::RAJESHPRABHU | Wed Jun 15 1994 01:07 | 24
Hello, Thanks for the information. But let me clarify the situation properly. My DEC 486 system contains only HUBwatch on windows. This is the configuration that I need. ONLY TO TEST THE PHYSICAL AND LOGICAL CONNECTIONS, WE TRIED LOADING PATHWORKS ON THIS SYSTEM AND CONNECTED TO THE ULTRIX/NOVELL SERVERS. So, I will ask the question again in continuation of 1109.0 : Can HUBwatch ver 1.0 work on TCP/IP environment ? Can HUBwatch ver 1.0 work with MS-Windows ver 3.1? Can HUBwatch ver 1.0 manage and control DECrepeater 900TM ? Can HUBwatch ver 1.0 be installed on a DE204 card? With respect to these above questions, please answer the questions raised in the the notes number 1109.0 Thanks in advance and expecting a lot of interaction/views/information!!! Cheers! 1109.3 | answer to one question... | NACAD::WILSON | Wed Jun 15 1994 10:43 | 10
Well, I'll answer the one I know - >> Can HUBwatch ver 1.0 manage and control DECrepeater 900TM? No. You would need HUBwatch V2.0 (either Windows or OpenVMS) to manage a DECrepeater 900TM. This module didn't even exist when HUBwatch V1.0 was developed. Karen HUBwatch development |
