1097.0. "Hubwatch and DS90TL" by DRAC::LEFERNANDEZ (LUIS ELOY FERNANDEZ) Thu Jun 09 1994 13:26

    Hi everybody,

my name is Luis Eloy, from DECsite Barcelona (Spain). We are having
some trouble with a DEChub 900MS, Hubwatch 2.0 (Windows) and
    DECservers 90TL.

    1. When the DECservers 90TL load software, the DEChub900 MS display
shows the following message: "DECserver 90TL, non fatalfailure".
    All DECservers 90TL work fine.

If software is not loaded, the message is "DECserver 90TL up".

    2. Unable to access DECservers 90TL from Hubwatch. Internet addresses
are OK, and we are able to "ping" from DECserver to the PC running
Hubwatch. The message we get is: "Agent does not respond".

DEChub 900MS revisions: Hardware version F
    			    ROM revision V1.1.6
    			    Firmware revision V2.2.1
    DECserver 90TL revs.: FW 2.0.0
    			    HW 3.0
    DECserver 90TL software is V1.1 BL44-10

We have two DEChub 900MS, with 4 repeaters 900TM and 5 DECservers 90TL
    and 5 repeaters 900TM and 4 DECservers 90TL.

    	Thanks in advance,

    Luis,

The non fatalfailure error on the MAM LCD is expected. It has to do
with the DECserver 90TL not responding to "who are you?" requests
on the mamagement bus after it loads its code. As for your
inability to reach the server's agent, you might want to check
section 3.6.3 of the "HUBwatch Installation and Configuration"
manual to be sure that your server's are setup correctly (ie
SNMP enabled, GET, GETNEXT, SET enabled, etc.). If they're setup
correctly we'll have to dig deeper.

    Hope this helps,
    Bob

    Hi Bob,

we did check and change those parameters, as stated on the installation
    manual.

What else can we look for?

    Thanks,

    Luis,

Did you put an entry into the HUBwatch Agents File for the
DECserver 90TL? If you performed a [configuration][add] operation via
HUBwatch and did not add an entry to the HUBwatch Agents File, then
the DECserver 90TL will show up on the Hub's Front Panel and will be
accessible via HUBwatch until you exit HUBwatch. After that, when you
enter HUBwatch, the DECserver 90TL will show up on the Hub's Front
Panel View, but will not be accessible via HUBwatch. You will get an
error that the agent does not respond. Make sure that the DECserver
90TL has an entry in the HUBwatch Agents File.

    Hope this helps,
    Bob
