1070.0. "DEChub/Gigaswitch futures?" by SWAM2::JACOMB_SC (I know enough to be dangerous!!) Fri Jun 03 1994 20:42
Are ther any plans to have switched Ethernet, 100 Megabit Ethernet or
ATM for the DEChub 900? I have an RFP that is looking for a hub that is
capable of 10BaseT, FDDI, Switched Ethernet, 100 Megabit Ethernet and
155 Megabit ATM.
The RFP states that the Hub must be capable of
supporting all of these topologies without changing backplanes.
I know that the Gigaswitch currently supports both FDDI and ATM. are there
any plans for the Gigaswitch to support switched Ethernet or 100 Megabit
Ethernet?
The RFP also askes for a detailed description of hardware required to
attach the concentrator to an ATM Backbone (I assume that they mean if
the concentrator is being used for FDDI or ?).
I was planning on providing a proposal for both DEChub 900 and
Gigaswitch and explaining the strengths of each and would like to be
able to address whether Digital is planning to address the other
technologies in the future and give approximate timeframes within 1
year (ie we have ATM, FDDI, 10BaseT, Switched FDDI and Bridged Ethernet
now and will have Switched Ethernet next year and 100 Megabit Ethernet
in 1996).
Regards,
-Scott
