1065.0. "DECbridge 900MX distance capabilities" by DECPRG::PAVLUP () Fri Jun 03 1994 04:12
Hi,
I see some inconsistencies in what's written in our documentation about
DECbridge 900MX.
DB900MX is a MMF-equipped device, so I'd assume the distance it can
span should be up to 2 km. However, in the U.K. DECdirect (April 94), a table
on page 41 says that it is capable of spanning distances of up to 10 km.
A customer is questioning this point... We can be safe stating 2 km, but what
if we really can do more (???). Actually, the customer has 50/125 fiber and
pursues a solution for cca 8.5 km distances.
Please clarify for me this point (including the fiber parameters, if any
dependency exists).
Regards
Petr.

| The ports comply with MMF spec meaning 2KM. Distances may be a
little longer or shorter depending on fiber size and the number
of patch cables and splices. You will not be able to strech that
to 8KM.
You will need a DECconcentrator 900 with SMF ports.
