1056.1 | Should work OK | ROGER::GAUDET | Because the Earth is 2/3 water | Wed Jun 01 1994 15:55 | 5 |
| Actually, if your drawing is accurate, you have the bridges in slots 7 and 8,
both of which supply 12V. So both bridges will operate correctly and the AUI
ports could be used if you wanted to.

| Can you confirm that I realy can use both AUI ports. Because in the
DEChub90 Owners manual at page 2-16 is stated: " The DEChub 90
backplane +12V power supply can only support one Eternet backbone
tranceiver cirquit."
And yes both bridges are in slot 7 & 8.

1056.3 | You are correct ... doc says no can do on 2 AUI's | ROGER::GAUDET | Because the Earth is 2/3 water | Thu Jun 02 1994 12:23 | 9 |
| I am not a power supply guru, so I'm not sure. However, if this is the case
(and you are correct, the documentation clearly states it), then you can use
neither two DECbridge 90s nor a single DECbridge 90 and a DECrepeater 90FA in a
single hub (if you want to use the AUI). Me thinks you are "on your own" with
your clearly-documented-as-unsupported configuration.
Any power supply folks care to comment?

1056.4 | Stop reading TFM. 8^) | CGOS01::DMARLOWE | Have you been HUBbed lately? | Thu Jun 02 1994 12:27 | 8 |
| Yes you can use both AUI's similtaniously. There is no difference
between 2 DB 90's in the hub and a DB 90 and a DA 90 or combinations
including DEFAR's. There is plenty of power but only to slots 7
and 8.
Throw out the DEChub 90 Owners Manual.

| Thanks for the confirmation, Dave. I think I'll stick with answering software
questions from now on. :-}

1056.7 | Configuration is NOT supported | 4678::SLAWRENCE | | Mon Jun 06 1994 12:01 | 6 |
| Regardless of power issues, you have violated the DB90 configuration
rules for the workgroup, and are likely to have problems.
You have made the backbone network the hub backplane - this is the
workgroup port of the bridge. This is _NOT_ a supported configuration
and will very likely fail eventually.

| re. -.1
Yes, there is a wall. It will work until one of the DB 90's sees
more than 200 node addresses appearing in the workgroup.
#1 B #2
A================DB90++++++++++DB90==================C
workgroup
DB 90 #1 will see addresses in the workgroup plus any addresses on
Segment C.
DB 90 #2 will see addresses in the workgroup plus any addresses on
Segment A.
If either bridge address table hits 200 them the customer could
see weird effects, the least of which would be 1 or both bridges
going into flood mode. The DB 90 wasn't designed to go into this
type of situation (LB 150/200 is) but it will work up to a limit.
Bottom line, "All claims disclaimed, all disclaimers claimed".
