I have a DECagent 90 at firmware 1.0 that I need to upgrade. The problem is the RS232 port no longer functions. The port worked until I moved the DENMA from my DEChub to a standalone configuration with a "BAD" H7827-AA power supply. I seems the RS232 port was "decommissioned" when connected to the offending H7827-AA power supply that came with one of the two DENMA's I got off dial. Not only was the power supply not providing 12 volts (all led's but power flashing), it blew the RS232 circuitry in the DENMA. Every thing works fine except the port. If I use boottp to set the IP address I can get to the agent from HUBwatch. From all the information I have read I need to get to CCI to do a upgrade from V1.0 firmware. Is there a way to upgrade DECagent 90 at firmware 1.0 without the RS232 port? I sure hate to replace a perfectly good DECagent (I have no plans to use the RS232 port). thanks, gene

You are SOL. The V1.0 code does not support any kind of remote downline upgrade (that was provided in the V1.1 update). So the only way to load the agent is to get into CCI and invoke the ROM-based loader. And the only way to get into CCI is via the console (that's why it's called CCI, the Console Command Interface). Since your console is dead, you can't get there (V2.1.3) from here (V1.0). ...Roger... |
