1027.3 | No PAK required for DECndu Plus | ROGER::GAUDET | Because the Earth is 2/3 water | Mon Jun 20 1994 12:00 | 7 |
| The latest DECndu Plus does not require a PAK. The kit is located at
NETCAD::PROJ$706:[NDU.V3.RELEASE.VMS.SSB]NDUPLUS010.A.
The firmware and release notes can be found in one consolidated kit (DCF010) at
NETCAD::PROJ$722:[ONEHUB.RELEASE.FIRMWARE.V1_0.VMS]

1027.5 | NDU kit size? | BIKINI::KRAUSE | CSC Network Management/Hubs | Tue Jul 05 1994 10:57 | 7 |

Why is the new kit only 576 blocks compared to the 900 blocks of the
previous version? Is the license check that big?

1027.6 | The word "downsizing" comes to mind :-) | ROGER::GAUDET | Because the Earth is 2/3 water | Tue Jul 05 1994 13:29 | 14 |
| It's all part of the company-wide cost-reduction scheme. By reducing the size
of the kit we reduce the network bandwidth required to copy and install the kit,
which in turn saves the company money! :-)
But seriously, it looks like the latest kit has been cleaned up a bit. Several
files are no longer in the kit, presumably because they're not needed (an object
library, a couple of object files and what I suspect is a directory which never
really belonged in the kit in the first place).
And no, the license check does not require that much code. In fact, the
NDU$MAIN.EXE image (where the check is done) in the both kits is exactly the
same size.

1027.7 | Is DECndu PLUS for OVMS on CONDIST? | BUDDIE::KORNS | | Thu Sep 15 1994 13:46 | 20 |
| Is DECndu PLUS on the OpenVMS VAX Consolidated distribution?
If not, why not.
I'm working to solve a customer satisfaction issue and I don't
want to tell them they need to spend $200 for NDU media kit.
They can't find it on the July 1994 Con CDROM. Does it have
a funny name.
Dave,
PS: (support caost are rising, I already FEDEXed them DCF for
VMS which I mistakenly thought included the DECndu PLUS utility.
Days have passed and if the CONDIST does not have, I'll have to
makekit and FEDEX that.
Why, if we put the DOS NDU on the internet, do we not also
put NDU for all platforms there ... especially if there is
no PAK.

No.

See note 1050.7. The same comments apply to DECndu Plus as apply to the DCF kit.

That is an excellent question. I will look into providing the OpenVMS VAX kit
on the Internet.
