| My problems correspond to those in .0 and in 979. Is it an idea to put all
problems of this field test version in one entry? It's easier to monitor
replies, then.
I've installed PATHWORKS Client V5. I used to have the IP-stack from Hubwatch,
but have re-installed it, and configured "Hubwatch only". The AUTOEXEC.BAT
contains only variables for HUBwatch, so I guess I'm using the correct IP-stack.
1. When starting Probewatch from Windows, after I've created a file called
labprobe.age, the first windows comes up with two agents, pprobe1 and
labprobe.
A message saying "SNMP-TRAP port (162) is already in use.
(this also happens in the Probewatch for Ultrix, notes entry 980, item 2)
2. When clicking on domain view, it is "learning domains", and comes up with the
domains I've already installed on the probe.
3. Choosing SEGMENT ZOOM, and Graph next to the Cumulative Statistics, a message
saying "Etherstats graphs launched appears in the Segment Zoom window, and a
new window pops up with the title "PROBEwatch Ststistics graph". This window
has a message saying "No domain installed". This also applies for the Top N
Hosts Graph
If I choose an item from the Type pull-down menu, I get a program error
saying (freely translated from Norwegian) "GRSTAT caused a general protection
fault in module GRSTAT.EXE on 0002:158D"
4. If I push the Hosts... push-button, I receive a message saying "unknown agent
"labprobe" Check Host file!". My host file conatin an entry for labprobe, and
I've also enabled BIND, so it shouldn't be any problem translating the
host name to address. The same goes for CONVS. I get a message in my
SEGMENT ZOOM window telling me that the application is launched.
5. When Graphing Short-term history, the application is launched, but no graph
is showing up as default. I have to pull down the Type menu and choose the
type of graph I want, and it's functioning O.K. But please provide a default
graph, so that we do know that somethings happening.
That's all for now. I'm keeping on playing with it.

| RE: point 4 in -1, see 979, put hosts file in IP stack directory for
Pathworks (or wherever your IP stack is located) that works so it appears.
I have seen all the same problems described earlier, as well as when a window
is launching it half writes to the screen, but leaves big holes, and then
finishes up later.
The whole package seems slow, but that could be due to the network delay to
the USA, and the heavy traffic on the probes segment. My PC is a 486 25Mhz
with 8 Meg memory and 300Mbs disk.
Also, I have found that when running the software for the first time after
powering my PC on, I can't launch a domain view, or anything much else.
If I quit from the application, and then re-open it all works OK.
Thanks
