855.0. "Loss of fonctionnality in Hubwatch V2.0 for DOS." by PRSSOS::PEYRACHE (Jean-Yves Peyrache Country Support Group France) Wed Mar 23 1994 06:48

   hi,

Several customers used Hubwatch V1.1 ( dos version) for managing Dechub90
module's and other Snmp devices using MIB access menu for these purpose.

in V2 of Hubwatch for Dos this functionnality seems to be missing/unsupported.

how to explain that choice to customer ??

aka Upgrade Version = loss of functionnality

 thanks for any comments/feedback

Upgrade version = *different functions*. Full support of DEChub 900 backplane.
Greater degree of managment for hub devices. Compatable upgrade path for
future hub devices (like FDDI and the new bridges and routers). Management
software written by the same engineering group (heck, the same company!) as
produces the DEChub products. Fully supported software that Digital is
committed to further enhance and improve.

To fill in the missing function, customers can get an SNMP browser, available
from a variety of sources, including public domain software.

We will return the lost functionality with V3, which will launch
from HP OpenView for Windows. HUBwatch and OpenView will be
separately orderable, as we cannot possibly sell OpenView for
	$495.
