835.0. "DECbridge 90 upgrade to V3.1 question??" by WARNUT::BANKST (Network Mercenary) Thu Mar 17 1994 07:22

    I want to upgrade a DECbridge 90 to V3.1 as I also want to upgrade a
    DENMA to V2.0 and the V3.1 upgrade is required to do this.

    I have V3.1 from KALI::SYS$PUBLIC:[WGB.FIRMWARE.V31]FLASH.EXE
    I just want to check that I can just do -

    NCP>set node 63.501 name db90 hard addr 08-00-2b-25-d4-33 serv circ
    sva-0 -
    _ load flash.exe

    NCP>load node db90

    to load the bridges I have.

    Also, the bridges I have are a mixture of h/w V1.0, ROM v1.0, s/w V3.0,
    and h/w V2.0, ROM v2.0 and s/w v3.0. Are there any issues in loading
    these two different bridge types with the above s/w?

    	Thanks

	The bridge load instructions are at
	NAC::LENAC_USER:[NETWORKS.MANAGE]BRIDGE_LOAD.TXT

	Your example looks very similar to the example in the instructions.

	I'm not aware of any differences in load instructions or in
	image requirements for the 2 different hardware revs. I know
	there was a gate array change to fix some counter bugs, but
	I don't know what changed in ROM.
835.2Loading V1 or V2 should not be a problemROGER::GAUDETBecause the Earth is 2/3 waterThu Mar 17 1994 11:528
There should be no difference when loading a V1.0 or V2.0 (h/w and ROM) bridge.

BTW, you win the prize for the first person to admit having read the release
notes for DECagent V2.0. That's where the information about the required bridge
upgrade to V3.1 is located, so I must conclude you read them. Tell him what
he's won, Johnny!  :-)

Better. You get your copy of the DECagent V2.0 code absolutely free of charge.
Everyone else must electronically transfer $20 to my DCU account before the copy
operation will be initiated!  :-)

Donations are tax deductible, of course!  :-}

835.5Kit for Kit..ATHINA::KARVOUNIS_AFri May 20 1994 04:2914

    Hey Guys,

    		I am having problems copying flash.exe from KALI::

    I get the old, "login information invalid at remote node"

    Is there some problem at KALI, or can I get the kit from somewhere
    else??

    Regards,

    Angelo.

Try QUIVER::PROJ$722:[ONEHUB.RELEASE.WGB.V3_1]DEWGB_031.SYS.  That's the actual
file from the SSB kit. Release notes are also there.

    Thanks Roger,

    		Have already copied it, do you know where I can get the
    instructions on how to install the patch in an Ultrix environment ?

    Regards,

As long as the mop_mom process is running:

# ncp load via circuit_id physical address MAC_address from file_name

Plug in the data for circuit_id, MAC_address and file_name from your system and
DECbridge as appropriate.
