799.0. "Problem loading MIB on HP OpenView" by OSL09::OYVINDC (yvind Christoffersen) Mon Mar 07 1994 12:08
Hi,
A customer tried to load the two MIB's
dec-hub900-common-mib-v1-0.txt and
dec-hub900-erptr-mib-v1-0.txt.
He runs HP OpenView on Sun and has DECrep 900TM.
He eventually got them loaded, but he had to do some
editing. Specifically, on the first one, he moved the
first line DECHUB900-COMMON DEFINITIONS ::= BEGIN
down to after the inital comments block. He then had to
remove DECHUB900-COMMON at the beginning of the same
line.
On the second MIB, he did the same and he also had to
remove the drawing at the beginning of the chapter
called The Security Package. He also had to remove
the comment block called The Security Control Table.
I had him on the phone while he was doing this and he
said that it might be a problem with comments lines and
double minuses that negated another pair of minuses
on the same line. I certainly have no idea.
He eventually loaded the MIB's and were very surprised
with the ease he could get info from the DECrep 900TM.
He was even thinking of making his own user interface!
Regards,
Oyvind.

799.1 | Trouble with line-art. | QUIVER::GALLAGHER | | Mon Mar 07 1994 14:34 | 13 |
| Hi Oyvind,
I recently became aware of this problem. I had heard that IBM's Netview
compiler flags this problem. I didn't know Openview choked on this too.
I checked the ASN.1 spec (8824) and found that they're both right.
(I hate when that happens).
The offending line-art will be fixed in the coming release. Version 2
of all the DEChub900 MIBs will be released in the next couple weeks.
Thanks for the report.
