Simple question : can the DECbridge 900MX provide the IP services for the chassis manager of the 900 ? That trigers the question of just which modules can provide the IP services ? From what I am led to believe just because a module has SNMP built-in does not mean that it can provide this facility.... Is this correct ? thanks Rog

Yes, the DECbridge 900MX can provide IP services. And yes, you are right. Just because a module has an SNMP agent doesn't mean it can provide IP services. For example, the DECbrouter 90T modules and the DECserver 90TL, 90M, 900TM terminal servers do not provide IP services, but do have an SNMP agent. Tom Hood HUBwatch

The following provide IP Services: Any DECrepeater900 (including the new ones coming soon...) DEFMI (new half-height redundant pair fiber/aui repeater) Any DECconcentrator900 Any DECbridge900 If you believe that other products not on this list should provide IP services, you should let the product manager for them know and make the usual business-based case for it.

Most people will read Scott's message as any "Ethernet" DECrepeater 900, but just to be sure the DECrepeater 900TL and DECrepeater 900SL, both Token Ring repeaters, do not provide IP services. |
