746.0. "DEChub900 future functionality?" by HITIT::KAYI () Mon Feb 21 1994 04:11

Can someone help with the following pls:

1)- When will our "per port or group of ports assignable to different
backplane Ethernet segments" type UTP repeaters be
available (called 900TP or 900GP if I'm not wrong)

2)- When will the 900 backplane's support for 6 Ethernets go up to 12?

We are asked for a firm answer for these for a proposal which is at the
evaluation stage now.

Thanks,

Fusun

746.1no firm plans on additional segments yetDELNI::GIUNTAMon Feb 21 1994 09:3124

Our per port switching repeaters for STP/UTP are expected to FCS sometime
in Q2, but all schedules are still up in the air as I'm still trying to
get this wave of products out. We cannot make any firm commitments to
customers for delivery at this point as it is too early in the development
cycle, and anything can happen. And yes, they are the 900TP (DETPJ)
and the 900GP (DETPT)

>2)- When will the 900 backplane's support for 6 Ethernets go up to 12?

Although we are talking about having access to ethernets beyond the current
6, we do not have any firm plans yet on when that will be supported, which
products will support it, or how many additional segments will be supported.
I cannot at this time give you anything that will allow you to make a
firm commitment to a customer. The best I can do right now is to say I'm
looking at it, but I don't know what I'll have or when I'll have it.

Regards,
Cathy
746.2End of 1994?HITIT::KAYIMon Feb 21 1994 10:214
    By Q2 do you mean Q2 95, that is end of this year?

746.3Timeframe for the other modules?HITIT::KAYIMon Feb 21 1994 10:457
    One more question please: is the timeframe for 8 port manageable
    repeater (90TS) and 16 port thin wire rep (900CP) the same as these?

    Many Thanks,

746.4all port switching will come out around the same timeDELNI::GIUNTAMon Feb 21 1994 12:498
Q2FY95 is what I meant, so we're looking at somewhere around December, 1994
though I'm hoping for something closer to the beginning of the quarter.
This wave will include all the port switching repeaters (900TP, 900GP, and
900CP which is the 16-port ThinWire). The DECrepeater 90FS is scheduled
to FCS in June/July, so don't count on it in volume til FY95 (July) at the
earliest.

746.5Update to ship date please...CGOOA::KASPERAmiga + Homebrew = HappinessWed Feb 01 1995 13:289
    Hello

    11 months have passed, as has Q2FY95. Is there a firm date now for FRS
    of the new Per-Port Switching repeaters? Again I need this
    information for a RFP that I am answering.

    Thanks,
    Dave

    Yes. FRS is planned for late April/Early May. There will be a ramp-up
    period beginning at this time. Before you promise delivery to your
    customer, please contact product manager Vern Hines (DTN.226.7391,
    delni::hines), who is in control of which orders are filled at what
    time.

    The two products which will be shipping are a 32-port 10Base-T with
    RJ45 connectors (DETPJ) and a 16-port Thinwire (DECPM).
