745.0. "HUB900: OBM & SLIP ..." by VNABRW::EHRLICH_K (Still, I'm sad ...) Mon Feb 21 1994 02:38

Hi,
my customer - the greatest hospital here in Austria with a large
and complex network - has some questions about DEC HUB900 and OBM with SLIP.

Customer will do the following:
     DECHUB 900
   +------------+
   ! OBMport!
   +------+-----+
          S
          L
          I
	  P
     +----+-----+
     ! DS700 !
     +----+-----+
          !
          !
+---------+-------------------+---------------+
                              !
                              !
                         +----+----+
                         ! VAX 4060!
			 +---------+

Now he want's to connect to the OBM Port on the DECHUB 900 from the
VAXstation 4060 using IP (UCX/Telnet) via a port on a DECServer 700.

Is this possible? I've seen note 500 wich gives a definition about the
OBM Port configuration.

Many thanks for your kind support here!

Best regards
Charly

    Charly,

Although I have not tested this with a DS700 you should try the
instructions detailed in the responses to note 703. Pay particular
attention to the cable specification between terminal server and SLIP
    port.

    Regards,

Yes, it should work just fine.

Let us know here if there are any additional hints we should add to the
    process.
