728.0. "What DECbridge 90 data?" by LARVAE::GRAY (Chris) Tue Feb 15 1994 03:28
Hi,
I'm putting together a solution for a customer which uses two DEChub 90
backplanes, with two DECserver 90M, two DECrouter 90C and a DECbridge
90. To manage this, I envisage using a DECagent 90 with HUBwatch
running on an X-Terminal hosted by an Alpha/OSF system (Yes - I know it
is a "future", but the delivery date is Sept '94 and as a fallback I
have the PC version).
The customer currently uses HP network management products, but wants
to know what advantages our products have and what statistics are
available from the Bridge.
Can someone tell me either what data is available from the Bridge via
HUBwatch or how I can obtain that data?
Thanks
Chris

| The DECbridge 90 is not rich in management features including
counters. You can look at the HUBwatch screens to see what counters
are displayed but we have found out that some of these counters
are bogus. Another way to look is using the remote MOP console
connected to the bridge. I suggest using the RMON packet probe
to get accurate ethernet stats instead of the bridge.
