714.0. "HUBwatch T2.3 for Windows user experience" by OSL09::OYVINDC (yvind Christoffersen) Wed Feb 09 1994 11:48
I have been testing the HUBwatch T2.3 for Windows for
a couple of hours and it seems to be functioning very
well. I have been using the DECrepeater 900TM.
The use of the "Stations" button to get a list of the
stations that transmits to the repeater ports, is as I
understand, not yet operational.
However, regarding the security options, I have a
comment to make. I have been told that it is possible
to tell the DECrepeater 900TM to "learn" the addresses
of the connected stations, and not allow any changes
to happen without signalling an alarm or typically
disconnecting the port in question.
I have not been able to find how to enable such a
"learning mode". Maybe this is for a later version
of HUBwatch?
I know that you can set "Authorized Stations" on a per
port basis, but it is very tedious to cut and paste
32 MAC addresses between the "Last Source Address Seen"
window and the address enter field in the "Repeater
Security Summary" window.
I have only been "menuing" around, so I might have
overlooked some basics - please show some mercy!
Regards,
Oyvind Christoffersen

| Auto-security is not yet supported in the repeater f/w or hubwatch.
Look for it in a summer release.
