698.0. "HUBWATCH AND COMMAND LINE" by BACHUS::VANDENBERGHE () Mon Feb 07 1994 03:10
HI,
Are they plans to allow a kind of command line interface to HUBwatch in order to
give the possibility to automate configuration mechanism.
The reason is simple, if we want to be able to (re)configure a hub or module of
the hub, it should be nice to have the configuration in file allowing a quick
comparaison between a reference and a actual configuration and also a quick
reconfiguration procedure in case of hardware replacement.
This is especially true due to the important number of port to manage.
Also my experience is that if a module is configured one specific channel, this
configuration disappear if the module is power-off and there is no warning (for
the moment) to indicate that change. So it is important for managers to have a
way to check if the actual config match the expected one.
If sometime we will implement traps and thresholds we (the manager) may require
a standard profile for configurating Hubs.
Thanks in advance,
Robert

No. But in some future version (V4.0, perhaps) we will try to add a
save/restore configuration function to HUBwatch.
