Could we get some informations about unnanounced product ?
According to some documents, we'll announce some new DECrepeater's
which are "half-size" (90's style) but with an integrated SNMP agent
on them.
So, they will be manageable in a DEChub 900 as well as
they could be used as an IP services agent.
Now, if you use them as a standalone device, they won't have
an OBM port since they will use the same DEChub One chassis as the
current DECrepeater 90's.
Does it mean they will be completly unmanageable in this
configuration ? or, will they request an IP address using BootP
and become manageable through SNMP if a BootP server handles
their request ?
Best regards
Patrick

The new half-height repeaters will have a front bezel RJ45 (MJ8)
connector for a serial line; it will function as both a setup port and
an OBM port (SLIP).
You can assign an IP address using the SLIP port (I believe that they
will also request one periodically via BootP if they don't have one).
Once they get an address, it is stored in non-volatile configuration so
they won't ask again.
They will be completely managable through the hub or thier own resident
agent in a hub, and through thier own agent when standalone.
They will be capable of providing IP services for the DEChub 900 MAM.

re: DETMI
When installed in a hub, the thinwire will be available to connect to
the hub's thinwire strip on the 48-pin connector.
When standalone, there is a rear cover with an AUI port on it. Only in
the standalone configuration is the AUI available. In this configuration,
there is also a thinwire BNC available. The customer must configure
the DETMI to select whether the thinwire or the AUI port is active.
The DETMI will support one or the other but not both at the same time.
